And just like that, come tomorrow my baby is already 3 weeks old. Yes, I call her baby or shobe because we're still debating on her nickname!
I can't believe time has flown so fast. Next thing you know we'd be celebrating her first month and it gets faster from then on.
Even with Karl's nagging I haven't taken too much pictures with the baby. I feel like I'm too Haggardo Versoza to show myself to the world or at least document myself. Mia on the other hand, keeps on posing with the baby as if there were no tomorrow.
This is Mia being a real ate. I think she thinks she is older than she really is. She sees me with Emilia on my chest and she wants to do the exact thing even if the baby is heavy for her to carry.
AND less than a month since my delivery Mia the demanding Ate wants a baby brother. Girl, keep on wishing! As I've said before, "Sirado na ang tindahan!".

On Having Two
It's crazy!
I guess it doesn't help that I'm nursing my CS wound, stabilizing my milk supply, reviewing Mia for her exams this quarter and no yayas for both kids(Well, Mia's yaya is leaving tomorrow and the replacement is still arriving next week!). I have been having a cumulative 4-5 hours of sleep every night and this is for a person who loves sleep and sleeps for at least 8 hours a night.
I'm so proud though that after day 1 at home, I have been completely independent from my mom for the graveyard shift. I don't need to 'phone a friend'. Hehe...
What I can be grateful for is that Mia simply adores her baby sister. She feels like she's this big person(as in literally) who can carry the baby around. She loves bottle feeding her (with breastmilk not formula) and talking to her. Karl also helped a lot especially during his paternity leave. Now, I already gave him my blessing not to help during the late nights since he has work and I'm on leave.
I am totally looking forward to this long weekend. Hopefully more hands on deck, since Karl is on holiday does that mean he can help? We haven't discussed it yet:P. Have a nice long weekend everyone. Enjoy!

Say Hi!
And she's out!
I was so scared of the operation since I was asleep the whole time when Mia came out. It turned out okay, but I'll leave the increase in population to everyone else after this one.
Presenting Emilia Rosario. 7.18 pounds! When Mia saw me after, she was like, "Wow mom! You're sexy again!" That is why we're on the same team:). Here we go again...

4 days to go!
And I'm reminiscing how time flew so fast. Mia is so big now! Since this baby in my tummy would be our last, can everything be in slow-mo, please? Here's a video of Mia when she was 2 years old. I wish we took more videos or maybe we should have just documented her life.
Nesting
Since my leave, I have been cleaning the house. It's amazing how fast things just pile up without you knowing it. I cleaned both my room at my mom's and our home. It felt like I didn't even make a dent. I have a couple more days left, are we ready? I don't think so. My friend told me I was nesting.

No Fail Grilled Cheese Sandwich
The Breakfast of Champions! Haha, what a caption... |
I don't cook. Cooking and I were never friends. I think it started in high school when we had cooking class. We were cooking a very simple recipe of cream of corn soup. Our recipe book had the wrong measurement and since a particular student wasn't listening to her teacher, she did not hear her teacher say that the 2 tablespoons of salt had to be corrected to 2 teaspoons. That was the saltiest cream of corn soup in the world and I even tasted it in front of my teacher, with a straight face, I said, "Ok lang naman ah...." Right.

I Shall Return
Anawangin, summer of 2010 |
Please skip this post if you're sick of me talking about my pregnancy, weight gain and stretchmarks. I've been having word vomit. I have less than 2 weeks left so hopefully you can still bear with me. As I'm typing this, I have already gained more than 40 lbs. I was supposed to talk about this before I hit the more than 40 lbs. mark, but who would have thought I would go over? I have started watching what I eat, and I mean be more choosy on what goes in my mouth, but so far, even when I sneeze I gain weight.

37 weeks!
So we've finally made it to the finish line, or at least I can pop anytime without worrying that the baby is premature. I'm excited but I know I'm going to have a breakdown when I actually check in the hospital. I don't even want to think of the needles, my organs being reorganized and all those other things.

Daughterless
Our daughter has ditched us. This is the longest we've been apart. The last time was when I had dengue and even though I was in the hospital, at least I knew she was in the same country.
We spoke via Face Time yesterday and the first thing she said was, "I miss you, Mom...". I miss you too Achie. The house is so quiet without you. And just like how I tell you how to count days, 2 more sleeps until I see you again. Hope you're enjoying over there, right now, I just have to watch your videos and wait like a nagging girlfriend on my phone that you call/text me for updates.
See you soon!
Cravings
So I'm down to basically my last few weeks. I'm holding my breath to stop gaining weight, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do but embrace it (Good excuse? Pwede na...). I'm just hoping losing weight would be as easy as before. Scratch that, I don't need it to be easy, it can be tough for all I care, BUT I just want to get my waist back. Erase all my whining and pining before, I am okay with my body pre-pregnancy.
Before I get sliced in half, yes, it's a CS and we don't have any other option, I told Karl, I had this working list of food I NEEDED to eat. Yes, NEED not WANT. Brat in the house. I have already eaten some of them but I wouldn't mind going back. I do have 3 more weeks left... Sharing you some of the things I've eaten so far:
1. Ukkokei Ramen's Tantanmien- It looks so greasy, but it's so greasy it's good :) They only serve 20 bowls during dinner. They don't serve this during lunch because it takes THAT long to make the broth. It's an acquired taste. It has a nutty spicy after taste, but after this, Miso Butter Corn has been overthrown! Be warned about the crazy owner and they're not known for their customer service. It's all business when you're there!

Happy Halloween!
Halloween is just around the corner. Mia won't be here for most of the celebrations but I'm slightly relieved (Bad mother!) since I get to rest a little before baby no.2 pops out(Nickname still undecided!).

Enchanted Kingdom
Waiting in line for the Wheel of Fate (cheesy name I know!) |
It has been over 10 years, maybe even 15 since the last time I have been here. Even though Mia has been to different Disneys, Sea World, Universal Studios etc., I still want her to experience what's here in the Philippines. Even though I wasn't in the best condition, I decided to join my teammates and let Mia experience Enchanted Kingdom. Since our group was big, we were able to take advantage of discounts.

Emilia
Guys, welcome the newest addition to our family. She's not really out yet but with all the rumbling my tummy is experiencing, I think she wants to meet all of you.
I actually decided not to do a 4D ultrasound because our weekends were always so tight usually because of Mia's schedule. Eventually I realized my kids should have equal rights. Mia never had her 4D because she didn't want to show her face, but I did go for one so the intention was there.
We still haven't decided on a nickname and it's kinda funny how I'm stressing out over it more than her real name. Her real name goes on paper and her nickname can get changed any time. Silly pregnancy hormones! Don't ask me how much I weigh because I feel like a whale slash cow slash insert something heavy.
I'm trying to take it easy but 'free' and 'lazy' weekends doesn't seem to be in my dictionary. Oh well, 4 more weeks and I'm off to the chopping block! Yes, I just called it that.

Injured Girls
Mia and I are on house arrest.
I started having this funny feeling last Saturday in a wedding we were attending. I thought I just overate, but the "earthquake" feeling in my tummy didn't go away until I surrendered and went to my OB last Monday. And to think I was postponing it to Thursday!
Mia on the other hand started with cough and colds. It has now progressed to fever. Crossing my fingers that it isn't dengue. Hopefully it's just a weather thing.
This picture was taken from the wedding last Saturday, Mia's 7th flower girl stint. I was on my 30th week then. I'm at 31 weeks now. We don't want me giving birth right now. My OB says we need to wait at least 32 weeks to make sure the lungs are fully formed.
My urinalysis results are out and it's leaning towards UTI. Once this is treated, I hope the trembling shaking thing goes away. For now, I'm on bed rest day 2. I would have never thought I'd do this. Oh well, there's a first for everything.

Flower Girl duties no. 7
Karl got Mia's dress today. I must say that this is probably one of the prettier flower girl dresses that Mia has. I can't wait to see her walking down the aisle in this. 2 weeks to go. I can't wait! Dress by Zandra Lim.

Of Schoolbags
What’s a mother going to do when the bag you bought during the start of school doesn’t close when you put in your daughter’s folders? And you guys know me too well, I don’t like spending on certain things. The school should have told us during enrollment that a long envelop with handles could have done the trick. So I paid dearly for the wrong bag and I did not want to pay again for another bag… So what did I do?
My daughter has recently been hit by the One Direction craze. “Hit” is an understatement. She can listen to a One Direction song and tell you who in particular in doing the solo. I am rolling my eyes as I type this. I wish she could put all these efforts in her studying instead BUT she's only in Kinder so I'll stop pressuring her. I had this office premium item that could fit all her things inside. Actually, she can even fit inside I think. Nyehehe. So I decided to spruce it up a bit... I mean, you can't be "cool" if your bag is a premium item. No, I take it back, I did not want her to feel inferior with her bag in school. Each girl had a Barbie or Disney princess bag. I wanted hers to be different and something she would love.
Mia has this throw pillow that had Justin Bieber carrying her picture on it. Yes, that was the Justin Bieber phase. So I asked Karl's friend who gave that to her where he got that made. We trooped to Megamall and found the place. P250 for a colored iron on. I forgot the name of the store (Haha, what a helpful entry this is!), but it's located in Bldg. B basement near BDO just below Pizza Hut near the escalator.) My memory fails me, this is the best I can remember. They also do shirts, pictures, invitations and frames. If you're really hard core thrifty, there are some people who sell iron ons for P30 a piece. I didn't want to do that just because I only had 1 bag and I couldn't screw up. On other days, I would have...
Before and after picture of the bag. Not bad right? The smile on my daughter's face, priceless.

Cirque du Soleil and Lugang
Last Saturday, we had a chance to watch Cirque du Soleil's Saltimbanco at the SM Arena. It was our first time to watch anything there. We were like total probinsyanos getting amazed. Even if you hate SM with their monopolozing and crazyyy money making skills, you gotta hand it to them, I don't think anyone else can build what they've made. Good job! Pat on the back...
Going back, since our show was still at 8pm, we decided to head over MOA and grab dinner before the show. (Don't attempt to eat in the Arena because the food is obviously extortion, e.g. tiny Mineral Water P100. Ano raw?!) We thought there was Yabu since there was a sign in their food establishments list but apparently it was still close. Paasa! Opening very soon, but not soon enough for us to eat at last night. I was craving for something Asian so we ended up in Lugang.
Mia's AVP
For Mia's surprise party, I asked one of my friends to make a video for her. Yes, at age 5, there was a lot to show from documentation (Let's hope Baby no. 2 will have the same number of photos).
If you haven't seen it, enjoy!
Thank you Tita Keeks for the video!

Surprise Party
It wasn't my idea. A party, a surprise party, any kind of party for Mia's 5th birthday.
Being an August birthday celebrant, weather is NEVER on our side, but we managed.
Happy Birthday Achie. You're still not officially 5 yet but I hope for a lot more fun and adventure with you. Mommy and Daddy love you very much and shobe too :)
Hope you had fun even if you hid behind my butt for a good 5 minutes. Maybe you were just really really really shocked!

27 Dresses
No, I didn't even watch this movie.
I hope I don't jinx it, but another advantage of having a child early is getting her to be a flower girl in a lot of weddings. Either Karl and I have a lot of friends, or people don't know anyone with kids at flower girl age, but I think Mia has kinda hit a pretty good quota on weddings.
These are her flower girl stints so far:
1. The first one was in Chicago! How social! If you squint, you can see in the background, it says The Chicago School. Yes, she was a tiny munchkin then and yes, pat on mommy's back for surviving the long haul flight with a toddler. She was less than 2 years old. It was in June but the weather was pretty cool so she was all bundled up in the picture taking.

Mia's Rendition of One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful
Last Sunday morning, I caught my daughter struggling to take a video of herself while singing "What makes you beautiful" by One Direction. I told her that I would take her video and she replied, "Great idea mom!". Here's a snippet of the song. She sang the entire thing. Afterwards, she got dizzy with all the hair flipping she actually told me, "I'm tired from singing, Mom!" No retakes, all done in one take.
Enjoy!
P.S. She was pointing at an actual door when she sings door in the lyrics and no, I did not teach her the choreography. She made all those up herself!

Of Posters
When I was younger(a long long time ago...), I had Leonardo Di Caprio's picture on the ceiling of my room. Blame it on Titanic, but I thought he was such a cutie patootie. Basically the concept was he was the last person I see at night and first person I see in the morning. Don't judge.
I had a good talk with Mia last week when she was making careless mistakes on her quizzes. Karl and I told her that she was better than what she was getting and she should know better (Yes, our daughter is only 5 and we discuss this). I worked harder on the worksheets I gave her and just hoped she would do better Crossing my fingers that the maid isn't answering them.

Ombre Nails
Sorry, I've been really busy doing worksheets for Mia everyday. I have been guessing what she's up to in school because every time I ask her, "What's up?", she just tells me, "School is fun!" "School is great!", which is good and I'm not complaining.
Anyways, here's a picture of my daughter's kikay toenails. I saw this trend on Lauren Conrad. Yes, who knew, I knew her? Hello, generation gap!

Mia the Ballerina
Obviously, I still have a summer hangover. This picture was taken in Mia's photoshoot for her summer ballet recital.
Our call time was 8am. They finally got to pose at 12nn, with arguments from the parents since the studio wanted it moved after lunch. Imagine the fussiness of 10 or so kids under 6 years old. Insanity!
Mia enjoyed the make up (which didn't come from me, I never knew photoshoot/ performance make up had to be so dark! All I had were nude/natural shades).

Anal
Out of boredom, I read through my blog recently. I found a mistake which I can't find right now. It's totally minor like instead of the I said them or like out instead of our. What's annoying is that I can't find it right now!!!
If in the goodness of your heart, you read my blog and labelled me as barok, please comment and tell me where it is. I will be very grateful.
Thanks!
Amazeballs
Awesomeballs! Okay, I really don't get these balls thing. First of all, how can balls be amazing or awesome? Maybe it's a generation gap thing. Yeah, yeah I'm old.
Moving on, someone posted on my Facebook wall that Mia got featured again. It made my day- possibly being the highlight of the whole week!

Chop It?
San Juan, La Union 2009. |
I'm kinda having this moment of wanting to cut my hair.
This is me, 3 years ago in La Union. Karl and I decided to have a family trip. We surfed, Mia chilled in the room with her yaya. After a one hour surfing class, quota na kami the whole day. It felt like forever in the waves that felt like a washing machine spinning you around.
My favorite moment of this trip was captured by this picture.
Yaya: Can, kamukha mo si Kitty?
Candice: Kitty?
Yaya: Kitty Holmes.
So my face is fully unrecognizable, but don't rain on my parade. I look like Kitty Holmes.
To chop or not to chop? That is the question!

Happy Father's Day!
Rambutan picking somewhere in Laguna/ Rizal, I forget |
When I was younger, my dad and I had a really bad case of love-hate relationship. When I was below 10 years old, he was the cool parent letting me do whatever I wanted. I just had to make sure my grades were fine (Chinese fine means with honors) and I could basically do what I wished. It was my mom who was crazy (Crazy in a little girl's standards). I couldn't do anything because anything other than piano and ballet caused breast cancer. Basketball and volleyball caused breast cancer. I understand I guess, with the flying balls and all. She declared soccer also caused cancer. I could not comprehend why balls on the floor can cause that as well.

Week 15
Week 15: At my cousin's engagement (EDSA Shangri-la Hotel) |
I'm so glad my first trimester is over. I can legally exercise (according to my doctor not to my mom). I don't sleep like there's no tomorrow. I don't puke at really tasty food. And I don't feel tired all the time like I'm carrying an elephant.
Summer's Over!
Just like that Summer 2012 is over!
Here's a picture of one of the activities Mia had and loved. I can't believe we're going to big school already. AND I can't believe we've been yayaless for 2 months and a half.
Props to me and more props to my mom!

Happy Birthday to Meeeee...
Oompa Loompa. My birthday the last time I was pregnant. |
So many things have happened in the past few weeks that I have forgotten to realize that this is the last week that I'll be 20 *cough* 8. And I quote a new hire, "I'm guessing you're 28 or 29 because you have a kid in maybe Grade 1... But you really look 25." Naks! Thanks for the disclaimer, but no that's not part of your regularization process. And pwede naman akong 19 kung gusto mong pilitin, and I just got pregnant when I was 14, if you want...

Make Your Own Havaianas
It was the first time Mia and I went to the "Make Your Own Havaianas" Event. I heard about it from Mia's playmate, Sofia who had really cute slippers with her whole name on it! I'm a sucker for customized. Not so sucker enough to pay for them before this year though. I knew it would be $$$ to get them.
Since my mom had points to spare in her Citibank credit card, I schemed decided we should do it. I was suprised that there wasn't any line, but between us who went, we had 2 kids, 2 seniors and a pregnant lady. What a recipe for instant access!

See you soon Cutiepiez
You'll definitely be on my unforgettable Citibankers list. I already miss you. Here's to achieving greater things and I will try my best to visit you (if not physically, spiritually... Haha.).
Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy! Good luck with all the Kiwi Kyutiepiez.
I shall see you soon.
P.S. Thank you CK for our very late Christmas gift but we are not complaining :)
Full Circle
My first recital, same studio. Ignore my cousin with the kissy face. |
The thing about having a kid relatively early, is that everything happens earlier. Tomorrow, I'm accompanying Mia to her ballet recital pictorial.
I can't believe it's with the same studio I went to when I was her age. The place looks the same, the people are still the same (maybe a little bit more wrinkly).

Happy Mother's Day
Free photoshoot from Picture Company, yes PG! |
I remember the first time I really felt I was a mother. Mia was around a month or two old. She was pooping every 2 seconds. It was in the middle of the night. She was crying because her lampin(we used lampin for a bit before we used disposables) was wet. While I was changing her, she sneezed and parts of her poop and pee went to my arm. And I couldn't do anything but clean her again, and clean myself. (Karl was sleeping soundly in the bed, but who is asking? Hehe.)

My Pregnancy Skincare Regimen
Stretchmarks are the enemy!
Now that I've gotten that off my back...
Now that I've gotten that off my back...
During my pregnancy with Mia, I religiously used Palmer's Cocoa Butter. I really don't know where I heard about this but I used it every day (or at least when I remembered which was MOST OF THE TIME) because I did not want to have stretchmarks.

We're Pregnant!
This is it, pancit!
A lot of people are thinking, finally! But for me, it's never too soon. I really don't know how people have kids after 2 years. I know that's the better way, lesser gap between the kids. They would end up being closer. If they were the same sex, easier with clothes. School books would be recycled. But here we are! 5 years in the making.
People don't believe me when I say I was fat before. Here's a preview of me being chaka fat and pregnant. I didn't go out much so maybe that's why I ended up being chaka.

Mahaderang Frogs for Sale?
A date with Mia to my alma mater. We dropped by the Shopping Center to buy something. There were frogs for sale. We didn't see the actual frogs, but yes, they sell frogs there.
Memories! Good times.

The Goose Station
with our main course, Steak! YUM! |
For our 5th year anniversary, Karl and I ate at the Goose Station, Fort. We kinda got lost getting there. The person who answered their phone didn't give great directions.
The Goose Station, contrary to Karl's belief that their specialty is goose, chicken, fowl etc., is a play on words that epitomize the owners' fondness for the degustacion experience. It is ranked the 3rd best restaurant in the country based on the 2011-2012 Miele Guide.

Core Kinesis
I'm alive!
Hehehe... I tried Core Kinesis a couple of weeks ago. It looked really fancy in pictures so I was excited to try it. It's practically a one on one session with different kinds of gadgets. The trainer said the difference with Core Kinesis with other exercises is that scientists actually created this exercise based on what the body can do- like how blue collared people have washboard abs (I'm exaggerating but you understand what I mean?), those are the kinds of movements you mimic here.

Of Wedding Giveaways
Before the photobooth craze, there were real giveaways.
In my mom's house, there are a lot and I mean A LOT of giveaways gathering dust from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I will not be caught giving away a figurine! Again, giveaways are important! Why? Because that's what the guests take home after your wedding high and remember you for at least until the moment they throw it away (Yes, they will still be disposed off!).

Core Kinesis
Another exercise will be on the chopping block. I am trying Core Kinesis out this weekend. Best part is that it's free! What's new with me? Will keep you posted on how it goes.

Of Wedding Invites
Since it's the eve of our wedding month, I've decided to talk about our wedding. I'm a practical kinda gal most of the time. I splurge in what I believe in and scrimp on the things I think are not so important.
Invitations are important! Why? Because it sets the tone of your wedding. True, everyone will throw it eventually(or am I the only one?) but for the last 2 weeks before your wedding, that is what everyone is going to talk about. So make it nice enough for it to spark interest, but don't waste too much money on it because it's literally throwing your money in the trash can.

Gardenia Plant Tour Pictures
A couple of weeks back, the kids got to visit the Gardenia Plant. As I have mentioned before it's a free tour, but you just have to schedule in advance.

The Mind Museum I
The kids were excited to go to the Mind Museum. Since it's new, it's in much better state than Museo Pambata. Most of the guests were from sponsor companies. There were only just a handful of us donors. For every donor, 4 public school students are ensured entrance to the Mind Museum.
We were 45 minutes early! |

Gardenia Plant Tour
Here's another thing you can do with your kids. The best part, it's free! Yahoo!
Gardenia Bread offers free tours to their factory. All you have to do is call them up at (02) 889-8890 loc. 258 and schedule one. They will ask for a letter of request (if you are a private group not a school) indicating the names of the participants, ages and school/occupation whatever is applicable.
Better to schedule a week in advance. The stafff is very accomodating. The plant is in Laguna and the whole tour takes an hour. At the end of the tour, you are greeted by the Gardenia mascots (Yes, Bread can have mascots too apparently) and you can buy bread at a cheaper price.
Total deal. I'll let you know more about it after our tour.
The Goose Station or Elbert's Steak Room
We did neither.
Karl and I were deciding on these two restaurants for Valentine's. He reserved for both, cramming for our final decision. Eventually we ended up in Lu (Lulu?), Rockwell. He told me he just had a reason, I didn't know why but I just went along with it.
I was kinda getting pissed with the little things- How he did not dress up for Valentine's (He was the only guy in the restaurant who was not wearing a buttoned down shirt!!!), how he was being mean and pushy to the waiter, and all these other things.

Of Class Pictures II
So I complained about Mia's pictures before, and I made sure this time around I wouldn't commit the same mistakes.
I think I made sure everything went well, too well, in fact that I had a harm time choosing which pictures to order!
I love her smile on her first picture. Too bad she was holding a placard!

Mommy, Be My Valentine!
I'm a such a sucker for kid related stuff!
As a mother, I love making Mia make the most out of her childhood. Anything that does not equal going to the mall, I'm usually in. It might cost a lot of $$$, but I just keep on rationalizing that what about the memories she'd have. Haha... Mom is a sucker!
Here's a different take on Valentine's day. Manila Peninsula is offering a cake decorating class for dads and kids as a gift for mom. For one adult and two kids, you get one 8" Red Velvet cake to decorate. Total cost with all the taxes total to P1,964.80. It's going to be this Sunday, February 12 from 2-4pm. Limited slots, so hurry!
For more information you can call (02) 815-4825.

Of Class Pictures
It's that time of the year again when Mia had to take her class picture in school.
What I like about her school is that the kids can wear their "Sunday Best" and actually pose and have a solo shot. Last year, I prepped Mia tirelessly on how to smile. I made sure she had a cute outfit- a crisp white button down polo with a dainty blue skirt. I made sure her hair was fixed and although minimal, had some accessories on.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalez!
It's been a month! I'm so late in posting. My friend Bea got married to the love of her life Martin last January 2. It's a great way to start the year, if you ask me. Wedding and reception were held in Tagaytay Midlands.
