We did neither.

Karl and I were deciding on these two restaurants for Valentine's.  He reserved for both, cramming for our final decision.  Eventually we ended up in Lu (Lulu?), Rockwell.  He told me he just had a reason, I didn't know why but I just went along with it.

I was kinda getting pissed with the little things- How he did not dress up for Valentine's (He was the only guy in the restaurant who was not wearing a buttoned down shirt!!!), how he was being mean and pushy to the waiter, and all these other things.

Why I Won't Have Pictures with Mia in Her AVP

You might think I'm just such a nag and I ask too much from my husband.

I always say that I take better pictures than my husband.  This is the best proof so far why I believe I am the better photographer.

Mia's favorite

If you ask Mia who her favorite parent is, without batting an eyelash, she'll tell you it's me.

Makapal na sa makapal but I know I am my daughter's favorite.  Based on my experience though, it does not necessarily guarantee that I will be forever my daughter's fave, but for now I'll thrive on it.

If there's one thing Karl and Mia love to do though, it would be sleeping.  I am not sure why this became their favorite pastime(I googled the spelling! Don't correct me.) or if this is even counted as spending time together but here are a few shots I took of them sleeping.

Frankly My Deer

Last year, for our annual anniversary trip, Karl and I went to Japan.  We decided on going around the Kansai region, Osaka and Kyoto.  Since it was in the area, we decided to take a quick day trip to Nara.

Tame deer roam around Nara. According to the legendary history of the Kasuga shrine, the mythological God named Takemikazuchi arrived in Nara riding a white deer to guard the newly built capital.  Since then, deer have been regarded as heavenly animals.

REPOST: Fake Smile

Originally blogged in July 31, 2009.  Karl always tells me I should talk to people more, but whenever I try to say hi to people who I've met before, somehow I always end up talking to people who don't remember me anymore.  Am I really that forgettable?!  They always give me this fake, yeah I know you look but really I don't, awkward silence moment.

For most of you guys (my contacts... Hehe...), you already know that I'm really not a people person. I'm a creature of habit. I don't like small talk and I will not go out of my way to talk to people I don't know. AND I will not go out of my way to say hi to people I barely(sort of/ talk to) know (but I know) when I see them. My face is not a smiley face and generally I look like I'm mad at the world.

Take for example last week, I was in a store (Haha, anonymous, malay mo, kamultiply ko siya!). I saw a college friend who was my groupmate in this and that class. I saw her, but she didn't see me, so I let it as is. I didn't want to talk about this and that for 5 minutes and say, "Bye, let's keep in touch!" but really we don't. I just let her do her shopping while I maneuvered myself out of the store without managing an eye contact.  She still looked the same, I probably didn't (Clue: I'm a mother now!).

Yoga date night is back!

We had an out of town trip today.  The funny thing is, with all that Mia saw today, this was what was most memorable.

Fish Feeding at Solenad, Nuvali

One of my frustrations with this country is the lack of kid friendly places to go to.  There are a bajillion malls but not a lot of sanitary places for kids to enjoy.  Here is what else we did last weekend:

I had an errand to do in Nuvali.  Since it was my family's first time there, we decided to go around and see what we can do there.

We left Manila late so we got there just in time for brunch.  Okay, so we weren't late, we were just hungry.  Karl and I have been thinking of trying Army Navy, since they had one here, might as well.

They had Fearless Fried Chicken in their menu.  Kids + Fried Chicken = No brainer.  I don't know anyone who doesn't like fried chicken (Unless you're allergic, and you know who you are! Hehe...).  Unfortunately, while we were ordering, we found out they didn't have fried chicken. Mia doesn't really like anything that requires ALOT of chewing e.g. pork and beef.  They had egg for additional toppings for their burger.  We improvised.  Mia ate egg and rice.  Don't judge.  That's seriously her favorite food.  Who would have thought she was going to eat that in Army Navy?  Hehe...

Mia's Birthday Weekend Salubong

One of the things Mia requested for her birthday were sky lanterns.  Sky lanterns are believed to be your guide to ancestral spirits.  This was how common folk conveyed their wishes to heaven.  In Mia's world, she saw this in Tangled, and since Rapunzel had them for her birthday, she wanted them too.

Before the sky lantern lighting ceremony, this is what happened during the day:

We left Manila around 8am for Clark.  We had breakfast in one of the gas stations in NLEX.  We had to go to a tree planting but since the road was bumpy, I decided to stop in Zoocobia which was the same area as the tree planting and wait for the rest of the group to finish.

This weekend was about celebrating Mia’s birthday salubong.  Since we were in Clark, we decided on dropping by Nayong Pilipino Clark to explore.  I have not been to Nayong Pilipino in Clark ever as far as I know/ remember because I have Alzheimer's I'm not so credible with these things.  The last time I was in Nayong Pilipino, Pasay was when I was in 1^st grade.   Yes, so many eventful field trip sites then (Luneta Park and Nayong Pilipino...).

REPOST: Transmorphers: More than meets the eye 07.01.07

Just thought it was fitting to reblog since Transformers 3 just came out recently. This was originally blogged in July 1, 2007 when the first Transformers was released.

For our monthsary weekend, Karl and I decided to stay at home to babysit my mom.  My mom was alone, all the men in the house were gone.  Dad and Brother No.2 went to a victory party in the province. Brother No.1 went to Singapore.  We ate some Peking Duck (2 way! Yum! MSG!), just because I was craving for some (Every month we alternate sponsoring our monthsary which basically means, you get to boss around where to eat, provided that you pay for it).

Afterwards, we decided to watch Transformers version Metrowalk (aka pirated).  For the first 5 seconds, we both thought it was just a typo on the cover, Transmorphers.  Since the font of the title and the picture of the robot seemed like a Transformer of some sort, we kept on watching it.  We were even surprised we got lucky with a clear copy!  After a minute, I realized my boyfriend bought a B movie which was really Transmorphers.

So Karl still kept on insisting it was Transformers (which I don't get why he never knew the difference, because 1. Lalaki siya and dapat alam talaga niya 2. Reason no.1 should have been enough).  We ended up watching the Break Up, which was kinda morbid considering we were celebrating something.

Anyways, today, Karl, my mom and I picked up all the boys from the airport.  Karl, the dakilang boyfriend was volunteering his car even though my dad said that he could drive the Expedition na.  I kindly pointed out that if he used his Civic, he'd be stuck with all of them without me in the car.  Baka kainin siya ng buhay.  Brownie points for me for having foresight.
